Installation via the Snitcher Tracker WordPress plugin

In this guide we'll walk you through how to install the Snitcher tracker using Plugin in WordPress.

🚨 TIP: Plugin installs require a WordPress site that supports plugins. Self-hosted WordPress (WordPress.org) and WordPress.com Business plans or higher allow plugin installs.

The WordPress.com Free, Personal, and Premium plans don't allow third-party plugins.

For those, use the Manual installation or Google Tag Manager methods instead.

1️⃣ Sign in to your WordPress admin (WP Admin). Navigate to Plugins → Add Plugin.

2️⃣ In the plugin search field, type Snitcher Tracker. Click Install Now on the Snitcher Tracker plugin, then click Activate once installation completes.

3️⃣ Once activated, click Settings on the Snitcher Tracker plugin row (or navigate to Settings → Snitcher from the sidebar) to open the Snitcher Settings page.

4️⃣ On the Connect via OAuth tab (selected by default), click Connect with Snitcher. You'll be redirected to Snitcher to authorize the connection, sign in with your usual method (credentials, Google, etc.) and click Authorize.

5️⃣ Once you've authorized, WordPress will reload with the connection established. Pick the correct workspace from the Workspace dropdown. (If you only have one workspace, it'll already be selected.)

6️⃣ Under Cookie Consent, choose the option that matches your site:

  • No cookie banner - leave this selected (it's the default). Visitors will be identified as soon as they land.

  • Yes, I have a cookie banner - select this if your site uses a consent banner. Two follow-up options will appear:

    • If you use Cookiebot, OneTrust, or Transcend - leave the default selection. Snitcher integrates with these CMPs automatically.

    • If you use a different CMP - switch to the custom-cookie option and enter the exact cookie name your CMP sets when consent is granted. The plugin shows inline instructions for finding the cookie name.

7️⃣ Click Save Changes. The Snitcher tracking snippet will be inserted into your site automatically, no manual code paste required.

🚨 TIP: If you prefer to install via Tracking Script ID instead of OAuth, click the Configure manually tab on the Snitcher Settings page and paste your Tracking Script ID directly.

The OAuth flow is the recommended path for most users.

✅ To make sure everything is ready, verify that your code was installed. Within a few minutes, you should also start seeing traffic from your website appearing in the Inbox tab of your Snitcher dashboard.
