Custom Fields

Create custom fields to store any information Snitcher doesn't already track like account tier, lead score, sales motion, and more. Fill them in manually, in bulk or sync them from your CRM.

Written by Frencheska Peren

Company fields let you store your own information on every company in Snitcher - anything our built-in data doesn't already cover, like a sales motion, an account tier, a lead score, or an owner.

Once a field exists, you can fill it in manually, in bulk, or automatically from your CRM, then use it to filter, segment, and organise your companies exactly the way your team works.

💡 Company fields are available on every Snitcher plan.

A few things you can do with them:

  • Sales motion - a List field with options like Product-led / Sales-led, so you can segment companies by how they buy.

  • Account tier - synced in from your CRM (e.g. HubSpot) so Snitcher always reflects your source of truth.

  • Lead score - a Number field you set manually or push from another tool, then sort and filter on.

Create a company field

  1. Go to Settings → Company fields.

  2. On the Manage fields tab, click Create field.

  1. In the dialog:

    • Format - choose the type of data the field holds (see Field formats below). Pick this carefully: once the field has data in it, its format is locked.

    • Name - the label you'll see across Snitcher. A machine-readable Key is generated automatically from the name (used by integrations and the API) and can't be changed later.

    • Description (optional) - a short note about what the field is for. Helps recognise fields in the future where naming might have become similar.

    • Options - for List fields, add the values people can choose from (type a value and press Enter or the Comma key “,”).

    • Advanced options - turn on rules like Value must be unique (see Rules below).

  2. Click Create field.

Your new field is now available on every company in your workspace.

Rules

Depending on the format, you can set rules on a field:

  • Round to nearest integer (Numeric) - values like 1.4 become 1 and 1.6 becomes 2.

  • Default currency (Currency) - sets the currency the field displays in.

  • Value must be unique (under Advanced options) - no two companies can share the same value (great for external IDs). Each company must have a different value for this field.

Fill in field values

There are several ways to get data into a company field.

Edit a single company

Open a company to see its details, then hover your cursor over any field and click into it to change its value (a pencil labelled Edit on filled fields, or a plus labelled Add when the field is empty).

Your edits are staged until you click Save changes in the bar at the bottom - Cancel discards them.

Update many companies at once

  1. In the companies table, select the companies you want to update.

  2. Click Update field.

  3. Choose the field, enter the Value, and decide whether to tick Allow field values to be overwritten:

    • Unticked - only companies that are currently empty get the value.

    • Ticked - every selected company gets the value, replacing anything already there.

  4. Confirm. Snitcher tells you how many companies were updated and how many were skipped.

💡 You can update up to 100 companies in one bulk action.

Sync values from your CRM

You can point a company field at a field in your connected CRM so its value always mirrors your CRM.

  1. Go to Settings → Integrations and open your connected CRM.

  2. In the Receive from [CRM] section, click Add another field.

  3. Pick the CRM field to pull from, then map it to an existing company field - or choose Create new field to make one on the spot.

  4. Save your integration changes. Existing companies backfill shortly after.

Good to know about CRM-synced fields & sync behaviour:

  • CRM-synced fields are read-only in Snitcher - the value comes from your CRM, and only a CRM sync changes it.

  • If you stop syncing a field, the values already in Snitcher are kept - new changes just won't flow in. (New values will not be synced into this field. Existing values will be kept.)

  • When mapping a field, an initial backfill sync gets triggered which should go through all companies to ensure they match with your CRM.

  • After the initial backfill, syncs are driven by changes on the CRM side. HubSpot specifically pushes updates to us instantly via webhooks, and for all other CRMs we poll for changes every 30 minutes.

Push values from other tools

Because company fields are part of Snitcher's API, you can also set values from your own systems or automation tools like Zapier - handy for pushing a lead score or enrichment data in from elsewhere.

Filter and segment by company fields

This is where company fields pay off. Every field you create becomes a filter on your companies list, grouped under Custom Fields in the filter panel.

The available conditions depend on the field's format, for example:

  • Numeric / Currency - equals, greater than, less than, between, is known, is unknown

  • Text / URL / Location - contains, equals, starts with, ends with, is known, is unknown

  • List - is, is not, one of, not one of, is known, is unknown

  • Checkbox - is true, is false

  • Date / Timestamp - before, after, on, between, or relative ranges (e.g. more than 30 days ago)

Save any filter as a segment to reuse it, share it with your team, and drive workflows.

For example, segment every company where Sales motion is Sales-led and Lead score is greater than 50.

Show fields where you work

By default, company fields don't clutter your table - you decide where they appear.

  • In the companies table: custom-field columns are hidden by default. Turn on the columns you want from the table's column settings.

  • In the inbox: open Settings → Company fields → Inbox widgets to choose:

    • Inbox sidebar - which fields show in a company's attributes panel.

    • Preview card - up to 3 fields to show on the hover card.

Changes here save automatically.

Manage and archive fields

On Settings → Company fields → Manage fields you can edit a field's name, description, options, and rules at any time (the format and key are fixed once created).

To remove a field, click the Archive icon and confirm.

💡 Archiving is safe:

This field will no longer be visible or accept new values. Existing data is preserved. You can restore this field at any time from the Archived tab.

Archived fields move to the Archived tab, where you can Restore them later with their data intact.

Good to know

  • The format locks after the first value is saved. You can always rename a field or adjust its rules and options, but you can't change its data type once it holds data - so pick the format thoughtfully when you create it.

  • CRM-synced fields are read-only in Snitcher. Change them in your CRM.

  • Archiving keeps your data. It's reversible - nothing is deleted.

  • Bulk actions apply to up to 100 companies at a time.

  • Company fields live at the company level.

Troubleshooting

I don't see "Company fields" in Settings.

Company fields are available on all plans. If you don't see the menu item, refresh, or reach out to support so we can check your workspace.

I can't edit a field's value.

The field is probably synced from your CRM (read-only in Snitcher) or is a default field. Change CRM-synced values in your CRM. Default fields cannot be edited by a user.

My CRM value hasn't appeared yet.

After you map a CRM field, it takes a moment for existing companies to backfill. Give it a minute and refresh; new updates then flow in whenever that company syncs.

A bulk update skipped some companies.

Those companies already had a value and Allow field values to be overwritten was unticked. Re-run with it ticked to replace existing values.
